Sushi? Bleh…
March 8, 2009
Yesterday I went to have some sushi with my sister and her boyfriend for dinner. I hate the raw stuff, bleh. I mean, we have ovens! Use ‘em! I’d had cucumber rolls and California rolls, and I could have sworn I liked the California ones. So I ordered them. Oh, boy I was very wrong! Bleh, I popped on of those suckers in my mouth and had to plug my nose and swallow! Trying not to be rude, I had another. Even worse. I vow to never have sushi again for as long as I live. Gross!

There’s a reason I never join you guys……blech…
I don’t think the California Rolls are to bad but I have never tried the real sushi. Not sure why people eat raw fish.
I wasn’t interested in trying sushi when I was in high school (very impressed by your willingness to be even a little adventuresome), but when I did try it five years or so later, I really enjoyed the textures and tastes.
I will say, though, my favorite is a roll called the Grinch that I had at a sushi bar in, of all places, Ohio. It was a fried roll; I really wish I remembered more than that about it.
And I don’t go to our local sushi place because I find it substandard, even though we live on the coast and I could fish my own sea urchin if I wanted to (I think). Maybe the place you went to just wasn’t very good. Don’t rule it out forever, okay? Maybe for, say, the next five or six years…
